Fullerton College President Welcomes

Theatre Students

by Kathleen O'Connell Hodge
Fullerton College President

Dear Festival Participants,

On behalf of Fullerton College and the Theatre Arts Department, let me be the first to welcome you to the 2008 High School Theatre Festival.  When the festival first started in 1980, it was a small, local event.  However, through the work of our dedicated faculty, staff and former students, it has transformed itself into a well-regarded and respected event, attracting participants from throughout the Western United States.  This year alone we are expecting over 2,000 competitors from more than 70 high schools!

Over the next two days I encourage you to explore your surroundings and take advantage of all Fullerton College has to offer.  Our Theatre Arts Department offers a number of courses in all areas of theatre, from acting and directing to costuming, stagecraft, sound, makeup, lighting, and stage management.  You may also want to take a moment to review the accomplishments of the professional actors and technicians who began their training here.  Be sure to visit the Theatre Arts Department website at http://theatre.fullcoll.edu to learn about all the opportunities for a great education in theatre at Fullerton College.

In addition to the Theatre Arts Department, Fullerton College has a number of academic programs for you to choose from.  If you plan to transfer, we have a wide variety of guaranteed transfer agreements with several major universities.  You may also choose to earn your Associates degree in one of over 90 majors or enroll in one of our 68 vocational programs.

The college offers a full complement of student services, including Financial Aid, Counseling, a Workforce Center, and Tutoring Center.  There are also numerous opportunities to become involved in extra-curricular activities such as student government, the Hornet newspaper, championship intercollegiate athletics, cultural groups, and radio production.

I hope you enjoy your time here at Fullerton College and hope that no matter what your future goals, you include us in your plans.

Sincerely,

Kathleen O'Connell Hodge
President
